Data Studio 360: The New Google Dashboards

Earlier this year, Google released a collection of new tools that are part of their 360 Suite marketing platform. One of those tools is Data Studio 360, a report and dashboard tool that integrates with many different Google products and allows you to build customized, live reports with a sophisticated visual editing interface and interactive framework.

I fell in love at first sight. The best part is there is a version of Data Studio that allows each user to build up to five reports/dashboards for FREE.

I’ll be honest, I have never been a fan of the built-in Google Analytics dashboard functionality. It’s limited to 12 widgets, very bland looking and allows for little-to-no customization. Now, with the free version of Data Studio, no one ever need use the built-in Google Analytics dashboards again! Move your dashboards to Data Studio. No really, do it today! There is absolutely no reason not to. You can go from bland, boring dashboards with no personalized look and feel, to something that you will be proud to share with your executives. Just go here. Google has already provided a few example reports you can view or even copy into a new template to use as a starting point for yourself.

Use The Pre-Built Connectors in Data Studio to Connect to:

  • Google Analytics
  • Google Big Query
  • Google Adwords
  • YouTube Channel
  • Google Sheets
  • Attribution 360
  • Google Cloud SQL
  • My SQL

Examples of Various Dashboard Mockups:

Adwords Dashboard

Audience and eCommerce Monitoring Dashboard

TV Ad Performance

ACME Dashboard

Simple, beautiful and useful

As you can see, there are many options to customize, brand and diversify the data included in your dashboard. In fact, each widget can be connected to a different data source, which is a very advanced feature that few tools support.

My suggestion is to try connecting it to your Google Analytics account first and then spending an hour or two just taking it for a test drive to see what it can do. There are lots of bells and whistles that you can discover this way, and it’s much quicker to pick it up from first-hand experience. Vertical Nerve can also assist you as needed! Just let us know if you have any questions and happy reporting!
